If we had to choose, we’d say grab a table out on the patio, where you can enjoy the sunset views with a glass of bubbles in hand before tucking into signature eats like steak tartare and the impressive boeuf filet en croûte. Worth noting—they offer up a $28 gyros lunch special if you need a break from your usual leftovers. Lamb ribs, wagyu lamb pastitsio, slow- cooked lamb shoulder, lamb tomahawk—we’ll take it all. The menu has entire sections dedicated to ceviche, skewers, empanadas and more, as well as larger plates like their 24-hour braised short rib, pork tomahawk and achiote spatchcock. Next level flavour that’s what. Serving up Latin American and Asian fusion with a side of river views, Azteca’s surrounds match the brief perfectly, featuring hanging greenery, big terracotta brick-lined circular booths, a stunning geometric bar and an outdoor patio to catch the breeze. The Trans and gender-diverse communities are starting to feel vulnerable, so let’s continue to work on making The Star a safe and inclusive place for everyone, esp., for trans and gender-diverse team members. Alarming laws and legislation have been passed in other countries that can significantly impact people’s lives. Without the dedication of the Proud team, we would never have been able to achieve what we had. In all seriousness, though, I was really honoured to be nominated and a finalist. It was an absolute joy to see the collaboration from all the stakeholders and how their team welcomed them with open arms. Secondly, I was invited to help reintroduce a team member who was affirming their gender to their department. Witnessing allies and LGBTQI+ members who embraced their identity with openness and pride inspired me to be true to myself.
